SAID (South Australian Independent Dance) was created in response to findings in the Professional Dance Sector Report 2017, commissioned by Arts SA that highlighted the need for a centralised hub in the independent dance sector and a program of regular dance classes to assist in the maintenance and diversification of technique and fitness.
SAID runs subsidised classes for professional independent dancers and creates space for artists to connect with each other and have the sorts of conversations that lead to collaboration and creative projects. All classes are $5 for practising independent dancers.
The SAID website and calendar aims to provide comprehensive information on the schedules of dance classes, biographies of teachers and info on dance performances and events happening in our city. We welcome submissions from the wider dance community to include your dance events in the calendar.
Please submit here or by pressing the submit button above the calendar on the home page.
In future iterations, we aim to provide info on opportunities, funding rounds, residencies and support networks within our state.
Should you have any queries regarding SAID, please contact us using the form available. Please sign up for our newsletter to receive weekly class timetables and info on dance happenings in the state.
SAID is administered by Lewis Major Projects and made possible by the generous support of Arts SA.
